That heavy, sticky tar
Laid itself down on her, Mother Earth
It had hardened, after it hurt
Asphalt was too much work to unearth
Is she suffocating?
Can you hear her breathing?
Maybe those parts of her land
Are numb now, and have been abandoned
When people walk over her, and cars drive by
She feels nothing inside
The life inside has died
After the pavement had dried
