Who we are
The Burgundy Zine is a blog and quarterly digital magazine that gives creatives a platform to broadcast their content to a growing global audience.
The entire platform is self-run and self-funded by burgundy bug, a full-time freelancer and college student.

Content Statement
Freedom of speech and self-expression are central to The Burgundy Zine. As a result, some content we feature may be sensitive to some users.
The Burgundy Zine is not liable for the content submitted to our publication and platform. Opinions expressed by guest contributors or interviewees may not always reflect the opinions or values of The Burgundy Zine.
We accept almost all content submissions to our platform. It is an honor to feature such a diverse body of voices. However, we will under no circumstances feature content that promotes harmful or discriminatory activity.
As a community and publication that values free speech, we ask that you acknowledge the creators (both internally and the guest contributors) are artists entitled to their individualism and creative liberties.
Guest Submissions Policy
By submitting content to The Burgundy Zine, you hereby consent to the use of your intellectual property being featured on our blog and on our website.
We ask that all guest contributors verify they are the original creator or have received consent from the original creator to submit their content.
The Burgundy Zine is not liable for the originality of the content submitted to our platform. If your content has been wrongfully featured on our blog and in our digital magazine, please contact us and we will investigate the issue.
As of July 10th, 2020, we require all persons under the age of 18-years-old to have their parent or guardian fulfill a parental consent form prior to The Burgundy Zine featuring their content. These measures have been established to protect your child and our community.
You will only need to submit a parental consent form once. The consent form implies permission for future content submissions, as well.
What personal data we collect and why we collect it
Media
If you submit images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
Contact forms
Data from our contact forms (your name, pen name, email address, website, and message) is encrypted and filtered through an automated spam filter. Your form is emailed to us and never shared with anyone else by The Burgundy Zine staff.
Cookies
Your cookies are largely determined by your browser settings. The Burgundy Zine does not offer accounts for users to login, nor are comments enabled, so any data from viewing our site is determined by your device’s settings.

Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, social media posts, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

Analytics
We use Google Analytics and the built-in analytics from our website host to track our audience. However, we do not personally send this information out to third parties. When asked about our target audience and readership, we describe it in very broad terms (essentially, we base our target demographic on age range and our own content).
Who we share your data with
Again, we do not send your data around all willy-nilly. That being said, The Burgundy Zine does use Google Analytics and Google AdSense. You can learn more about Google’s Privacy Policy here.
How long we retain your data
We do keep a running list of contributors to The Burgundy Zine and their email addresses for Burgundy Zine related outreach.
If you would like us to delete you from our “database” (which is actually just a spreadsheet), please contact us.
What rights you have over your data
You are more than welcome to request copies of any content you have submitted to us. If you would like to have your content removed from our website and digital magazine, or if you would like to be published by us under a different pen name, please contact us.
Where we send your data
Once again, contact forms are checked through an automated spam detection service. We also had Google Adsense, Google Analytics, and feature embedded content on our site. More information on how those sites may use your data is linked to above.
