We started this week by comparing the works of Sylvia Plath and Emily Dickinson, tuned into Sweet Moon by Sundarta on Tuesday, ideas, took a look at what in the world was going on this Wednesday, recounted the night I met my partner, and wrapped things up with an analysis of love from a neurological perspective.

Congress appears to have reached an agreement on funding for President Donald Trump’s wall along the southern border of the United States. Although the President doesn’t appear too gung-ho about the terms of the agreement, it may be enough to thwart another partial shutdown of our government.
Meanwhile, Childish Gambino made history on Sunday, winning multiple awards for his single This is America. Cardi B deactivated her Instagram in the face of drama and controversy following her win for Best Rap Album at the 61st annual Grammy Awards, El Chapo was sentenced to life in prison, and 500,000 cattle have died in Queensland amidst hazardous flooding.

President Donald Trump delivered the State of the Union Address on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Hawaii may raise the minimum smoking age to 100 years old by 2024, 21 Savage was taken into custody by ICE, Demi Lovato deactivated her Twitter, and a student in North Carolina found a man in her closet.

This week, The Burgundy Zine saw the release of the first zine! Woohoo. We wrapped this month up with a review of Jose Antonio Vargas’ book Dear America, Notes of an Undocumented Citizen, Chamomile by atlas, and with a look at what was going on in the world.
