freedom has a name,

it’s “bicycle,”

just as the fear of never leaving here had grown cyclical,

before one decade could close in on two,

at 17, i found myself feeling renewed,

freedom has a nickname,

it’s “public transportation,”

and at 18 i found myself traveling to even further locations,

but it wasn’t enough,

see, freedom isn’t free,

such a luxury wouldn’t come without a fee,

money,

blimey, it’s gross,

slimy, grubby, and uncouth,

but my god is it the truth.
