Spoil Me is a local store and cart in the Springfield Mall run by sisters Krishna Persaud and Rose Maleene that specializes in jewelry, accessories, and body piercings.
Among their fine collection is the best, most hidden gem of all: Persaud’s ability to cure migraines with an ear piercing.
Upon arriving at the cart, which is near the Target on the first floor, guests are dazzled by earrings, necklaces, as well as trendy handbags.

“My cart’s been in the Springfield Mall for 24 years,” Persaud said. “I’ve also been doing body piercings for 24 years.”
Persaud added that she does about 500 piercings a month.
“I do ear, rook, nose, eyebrow, as well as industrial piercings,” Persaud explained. “Most customers visit for ear piercings, particularly my migraine piercing.”

How the Migraine Piercing Works
The ‘migraine piercing,’ also known as the daith piercing, goes through the inner most fold of the ear’s cartilage.
The first study on the link between daith piercings and migraines published by Frontiers in Neurology in 2017 analyzed the case of a 54-year old man who suffered from severe migraines dating back to his childhood.
The subject of the study had a family history of migraines and treated his chronic attacks with up to five different drugs. After the piercing, his migraines became infrequent – even rare – and significantly less disabling.
Not only were his symptoms improved, the subject was able to cut back to one medication for treating his tension headaches, which now only occur about four times a month.
Although there is still research to be done on the correlation between daith piercings and migraine relief, the experts behind this study suspect the piercing positively affects pain pathways by this modulation of a cranial nerve.
“I had a woman who visited me for [the daith piercing] in one ear and came back one week later to have it done on the other side because she was so happy,” Persaud continued. “It really, really works. Everyone who has gotten it has been absolutely thrilled with the results.”
