Located along the main route between Montgomery County and Northwest Philadelphia, one of the nation’s leading cannabis operators, Curaleaf, celebrated the grand opening of its 1,800 sqft City Ave dispensary on Monday.
“We are pleased to expand and strengthen our retail presence in Pennsylvania, offering our unparalleled patient care and education, as well as access to premium cannabis products,” said Curaleaf Chief Executive Officer Joe Bayern. “We look forward to serving these communities and anticipate that demand will quickly surpass projected sales in this market, as cannabis continues to gain acceptance for a variety of health and wellness needs.”
Pennsylvania recently welcomed Select, Curaleaf’s award-winning line of cannabis oil products, into its medical marijuana market — which is currently home to over 100,000 patients, according to PA Gov. Tom Wolf’s administration.
PA medical marijuana patients now have the chance to try Select Elite Live oil cartridges. Select Elite cartridges and Select Elite Ratio Drops are not yet available but will be available at PA dispensaries soon, as well.
Last week, we spoke to Curaleaf Head of Education Griffin Ward to learn more about Select’s products, the Curaleaf brand, and Curaleaf’s acquisition of Grassroots.
We also had the opportunity to ask Select’s PA team about their growing and manufacturing processes.
New year, new legislation. After legalizing adult-use cannabis on Jan. 1, Illinois has seen a total of $10,830,667.91 from 271,169 transactions in less than one week, the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation announced yesterday.
When asked if his stance on recreational cannabis had changed during a town hall in Las Vegas, Nev. on Saturday, former vice president Joe Biden said he wouldn’t legalize it nationally until there was more evidence cannabis isn’t a “gateway drug.” Okay, boomer.
Yet, recent research shows that cannabis use is associated with a decrease in the use of opioids, and the Centers for Disease Prevention and Control says, “The majority of people who use marijuana do not go on to use other, ‘harder’ substances.”
