Pennsylvania recently welcomed Select, Curaleaf‘s award-winning line of cannabis oil products, into its medical marijuana market — which is currently home to over 100,000 patients, according to PA Gov. Tom Wolf’s administration.
PA medical marijuana patients now have the chance to try Select Elite Live oil cartridges. Select Elite cartridges and Select Elite Ratio Drops are not yet available but will be available at PA dispensaries soon, as well.
Last week, we spoke to Curaleaf Head of Education Griffin Ward to learn more about Select’s products, the Curaleaf brand, and Curaleaf’s acquisition of Grassroots.
We also had the opportunity to ask Select’s PA team about their growing and manufacturing processes.
“We strive to seek out the highest quality cannabis flower and most intriguing strains, grown by the best cultivators in the nation,” Select’s PA Team said. “Our formulas are designed to represent the plant’s full profile as much as possible; this provides increased strain-specific effects.”
As a company, Ward explained that Curaleaf now oversees three brands:
- Curaleaf, which is “cannabis with confidence.” Each Curaleaf product is crafted with confidence in its purity, efficacy, and quality. The company’s seed-to-store model means they grow their cannabis in their very own state-of-the-art cultivation facilities. Curaleaf’s products are formulated in house, they use their own proprietary extraction methods in their labs, and they oversee their own packaging processes for quality assurance.
- Grassroots, which is the craft brand that inspires a diverse body of individuals to live deeply. Grassroots was built from the ground up by very knowledgeable and compassionate experts in the rapidly-growing cannabis industry. The brand is best known for its high-quality flower and concentrates.
- Select, is the lifestyle brand and recognized industry leader, setting stringent quality standards while continuing to innovate their products. In adult-use states, Select serves up edibles with incredibly modern delivery methods.
Select products are currently available in 16 states and continue to become available across the country, putting Select on-track to become the first nationally-recognized cannabis brand.
With each state the brand enters, they bring their high-quality product standards and regulations with them, Ward explained.
“We started in Oregon, where the standards and regulations were very high and very strict in terms of how many pesticides we need to test for and things like that,” he said.
As Select continues to expand, Ward said he’s excited about what it means for cannabis legalization as a whole on a federal level.
“One more state is more step closer to federal legalization,” he said. “I know it’s on a totally different track — people making those decisions state-wise are not the people making those decisions nationally — but Pennsylvania’s one more feather in our cap closer to that.”
Ward’s perspective is right on-target with what many PA legislators are working toward, too. Just two months ago, Gov. Wolf said adult-use cannabis could lead to “economic gains and restorative justice for Pennsylvanians.”
What PA Patients Can Look Forward to From Select

Above all else, PA medical marijuana patients can look forward to a grower processor entering our market who truly values quality and cleanliness.
Select’s cartridges utilize their signature organic-cotton wick technology, which provides patients smooth and consistent hits that are easy on their lungs every time.
Furthermore, patients can rest assured knowing their products are free of fillers, plant growth regulators, and pesticides.
“Nothing unnatural touches our plants!” Select’s PA Team said. “We grow our plants in coco, and use beneficial insects instead of pesticides, meaning our flower is free from dangerous chemicals”.
Select Elite Live
Select Elite Live are live resin cartridges that range from 80 to 90 percent THC and are available in 0.5g or 1g.
“When producing live resin, the primary goal is to capture the incredible diversity of compounds present in the cannabis plant,” Select’s PA team explained. “The unique aromas and chemical makeup of an individual plant play into the effect of any given strain. Extracts created using the live resin process – flash-freezing before extracting with light hydrocarbons – are known to best represent the specific strain profile it was made from.”
The Select Elite Live cartridges are also infused with high terpene extract, which are derived from fresh, frozen cannabis flower.
“This combination better represents the essence of the living plant, with a higher terpene content providing enhanced flavor profiles,” Select’s PA team added.
Select Elite are distillate cannabis cartridges that embody a range of high-quality sativa, hybrid, and indica blends. Their potency ranges from 70 to 85 percent THC. Select Elite cartridges are available in 0.5g or 1g.
Select Ratio Drops
Select Ratio Drops are a potent blend of cannabis oil in a tincture with a dropper that allows patients to accurately measure out their dosages.
The tinctures are available in four different ratios, offering patients the option to choose the right balance of cannabinoids for their unique endocannabinoid systems.
- Select Ratio Drops 1:1 — These tinctures contain equal parts CBD and THC
- Select Ratio Drops 4:1 — These tinctures contain four parts CBD, one parts THC
- Select Ratio Drops 18:1 — These tinctures contain 18 parts CBD, one parts THC
- Select Ratio Drops 100% THC — These tinctures are entirely THC
Select Ratio Drops and Select Elite cartridges are not yet available in Pennsylvania but will be soon.
In the meantime, PA medical marijuana patients can get a glimpse into Select’s quality and freshness with their Select Elite Live product line.
You can find Select products at a dispensary near you by utilizing the product locator on their website.
