TODAY IS MY HONEY DARLING’S BIRTHDAY!!
My summer solstice,
My definition of bliss,
I reminisce on moments in your arms,
Those ephemeral Sundays listening to the soundtrack of summer storms,
Those sunny days hiking through the summer haze,
Those foggy smoke sessions in my old bedroom after a good ol’ blaze,
Those evergreen reflections in your crystal blue eyes,
Those freestyle sessions that drove us during long car rides,
The first time I ever filled the space between your fingers,
Praying to my old diaries that your presence would linger,
Now we’re three birthdays in,
I’ve been counting down the days on my calendar in shades of vermillion,
One and million connection,
I’m enamored and overflowing with affection,
This isn’t my first confession of my love for you,
But I can’t help what I feel when you’re in my view,
Whether it’s in person or in pixels,
Dancing at midnight and sharing pickles,
Or spamming FaceTime photos,
My heart grows and grows,
Yet I still don’t know how to compose the sensation in my chest,
Butterflies flutter between my ribs with unrest,
Flowers sprout from my mouth,
Whenever my lips part to let the words flow out,
You’ve nourished me to full bloom,
In bushels of roses I’m consumed,
Daisies and daisies upon daffodils,
Your smile is my thrill,
Enthralled and in awe,
Struck and I’m drawn,
Closer and closer to you each day,
Oh, how I love you in so many ways.
Happy birthday, my love. Thank you for existing, thank you for letting me into your world. I have been captivated by you from the very moment I saw you enter the auditorium.
Our love is a garden, my heart a terrarium. Together, we bloom in abundance like a geranium.
Vibrant and verdant, you are my emerald, my pearl, my entire world.
