Following the release of his two gritty, grungey, alt-rock singles “Shadow Love” and “Crossroads,” we reached out to the London musician and model Andreww to learn more about each track via email.

We also dove into Andreww’s lifelong passion for music, his career as a model, and the inspiration behind the video game accompanying the “Shadow Love” single.

Tell us a little about yourself and your music

I’m a London based artist that grew up listening to loads of different music and am now trying to squeeze everything I know into each song at a time.

How would you summarize your sound in just three words?

Rock Trap Pop.

When did your passion for music develop? What inspired you to start pursuing a career in music?

I fell in love with music at a very early age — around 7 or 8 years-old, and then starting making it around 12. It’s always been the center point of my life, as my parents always had music on in the house. Now that I’m older, so do I.

Were there any defining moments throughout your upbringing that played a role in bolstering your creativity? Are there any other musicians, artists, or designers in your family

No artists or musicians in my family, but my dad is a huge music fan and took me to concerts when I was very young. It must have sparked my interest.

Give us a behind-the-scenes glimpse of what your songwriting and producing process is like.

I write the music first and get the foundation of the song to at least 70-80 percent before I start working on the vocal melody and lyrics. Once I’m at that point, though, it goes very quickly.

The stories in my head are all premeditated and just shoot out.

Tell us about your latest releases, “Shadow Love” and “Crossroads.” What’s the story behind those tracks?

Shadow Love” is about doing things that aren’t good for you, and “Crossroads” is about making a decision and sticking to it. Thematically, not even that far apart, I guess.

I think they were written at a time where I was making changes to my life.

What were your biggest inspirations while working on both tracks?

Being able to blend all the genres I love into them and navigating the experience of writing them. I’m really proud of both songs.

How did you develop the game for “Shadow Love?” Where did the idea come from for the game?

I didn’t develop it. My friend Claudio Cimini from Italy made It and really did the best job ever.

I just thought it would be nice to not just drop a song and a video as per usual but make something people could actually interact with.

I also read in one of your press releases about your love for fashion and your previous work as a runway model. Could you tell us a little about those experiences? How did you get into fashion?

I got flung into the fashion world when I was 17. Went to Paris and did castings and ended up for every big designer out there. I loved the experience of meeting new people and traveling the world. I guess it has made me super open to anything that comes my way.

What is one thing you learned while modeling that has stuck with you as a musician?

The visual concept is just as important as the song!

Of all your experiences thus far, what moments have been your favorite? When do you feel most “in the zone” or in a state of flow?

Everyday is a new great experience at the moment, but I’m happiest when I’m working on a new song and everything starts falling into place.

What are your overarching goals as an artist? How do you hope to impact your audience through your work?

I hope I can show that anyone can do it and that you don’t have to be put in a box.

What’s next for you, Andreww? Do you have any additional music in the works? Perhaps an EP or an album?

Going to keep releasing music and hopefully bring an album soon!
