In case you missed the memo, yesterday was Earth Overshoot Day, and last week the second-highest temperature ever recorded in human history occurred.

We need you to stop everything you’re doing and take a moment to reflect on your ecological footprint. How are you impacting the environment and what are you doing to mitigate the devastating effects of climate change?

After you’ve taken a minute to reflect, take us by the hand as we dive into our weekly recap.

Weekly Recap

We began this week by sharing information about iLiveYouToo, a platform that supports musicians and music venues by hosting cutting-edge virtual performances.

On Monday, we directed our Artist Spotlight toward Teri Anderson, who delighted us with her latest illustration.

On Tuesday, we tuned-in to an interview with NYC-based indie singer-songwriter Cat Dail. During our interview, we discussed her latest single “Red Pill,” and the film it’s written for. We also talked about the importance of female producers in the music industry.

Then, we tuned-in to song reviews of “Sunbeam” by Arkansas-based prog-rock band Census and “White City, Black World” by Chicago-based guitarist Michael Damani.

On Wednesday, we proposed a theory as to why some dinosaurs developed cancerous tumors.

On Thursday, we encouraged you to checkout HomeLivingLab’s blog to learn how you can stay cool this summer while saving money and saving the planet.

On Friday, we announced our Tune-In Tuesdays schedule for the remainder of the year.

On Saturday, we shared a few ways you can honor Earth Overshoot Day and do your part to #MoveTheDate.

Last — but most certainly not least — yesterday was editor burgundy bug’s birthday.

Going Forward

Tomorrow, burgundy bug begins the first semester at a new college — yay. Ya girl’s officially on her way to obtaining her bachelor’s degree in health sciences (and eventually, a doctorate in neuroscience).

As a result, we’re going to begin laying out The Burgundy Zine #17: Fall into Science as early as possible. We ask that you please have any content submissions sent to us by Sept. 21, 2020 at the latest.

In the meantime, enjoy the last few days of summer and get ready for “spooky season” — a.k.a. the actual most wonderful time of the year.
