We have updated our submissions policies

Source: The Burgundy Zine

Dear bug buddies,

We have made slight changes to our submissions policies with the protection of our contributors and our community at the forefront of our minds.

Don’t worry, The Burgundy Zine still encourages guest submissions and the overall process of being feature will remain relatively the same.

However, we now require guest contributors to verify the originality of their content and their age starting today and going forward.

Original Content Verification

We are proud to say we have never dealt with unoriginal or stolen content submissions.

That being said, we thought it would be wise to implement this verification as we were already in the process of changing our submissions policies.

There will be no additional submission steps in order to verify the originality of the content.

Instead, we ask that you check off a box confirming you are either the original creator or have received permission from the original creator to submit the content.

Why Verify the Originality of the Content?

Although The Burgundy Zine is not liable for the content submitted by our guest contributors, we want to protect the rights of the original creator as much as possible.

If your content has been wrongfully featured on our blog and in our digital magazine, please contact us and we will investigate the issue.

For more information, please refer to our Privacy Policy.

Age Verification

Free speech and self-expression are central to The Burgundy Zine. As a result, some content we feature may be sensitive to some users.

Additionally, our community is mainly comprised of adults between the ages of 24 to 35 and our target demographic is between the ages of 18 to 44 years old.

We want to ensure the parents or guardians of contributors under the age of 18-years-old are aware of their child’s participation in our community.

Age verification will be required for all content submissions going forward. These rules apply to those who are a part of The Burgundy Zine team, as well.

If you are under the age of 18-years-old, you will be required to fulfill a parental consent form with your parent or guardian prior to being featured by our publication — regardless of whether you have been featured by The Burgundy Zine in the past.

You will only need to submit a parental consent form once to have your content featured on our platform. The consent form implies permission for future submissions, as well.

Any content submitted to The Burgundy Zine prior to July 10th, 2020 will remain on our site and in our digital magazines.

Why Verify the Age of Creators?

The Burgundy Zine is a US-based publication. In our country, a person is a child until the age of 18-years-old. Even if you are 17-years-old and one day away from your birthday, your parent or guardian is legally responsible for you.

We do not want any parents to find their child’s content in our magazine and be upset if there is sensitive content featured within the same publication.

That being said, The Burgundy Zine keeps it pretty PG-13. Our content isn’t outright explicit, but you may encounter a curse word here and there. You may also encounter mature themes throughout our articles.

For more information, please refer to our Privacy Policy.

If you have any questions about the age verification process, please contact us.

In Conclusion

These measures have been implemented to protect both the content creators and our community. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to collaborating with you.

Guest content submissions for The Burgundy Zine #16: Skin Care, Self Care will remain open until July 21st, 2020. More information about participating in this upcoming issue of our digital magazine is available here.

Sincerely,
burgundy bug >:^)
