Mirror, mirror on the wall, who’s the most burgundy bug of all?
Monthly Recap
We began Aug with the article “When Everything’s Changing” by Camille Mola, followed by Hala Karim’s article “Returning to Syria.”
After analyzing CVS Health’s “Path to Better Health” study, Sorayah shared a series of posts with us: “A Reflection,” “Investing in Yourself (Mind, Body, & Spirit),” and “26 Important Facts About Growing Up.”
Following “What I’ve Learned From Writing,” we shared the research that found forest birds are thriving in Hakalau Forest National Wildlife Refugee. We also investigated recent data on the surface melt of Greenland’s ice sheet in, “What’s Beneath Greenland May Not Be so Green.”
After “Dodling with Craig Doriot,” we published “What I’ve Learned From Photography,” and “What I’ve Learned From Hiking and Gardening.”
Then, Karim shared her personal experiences with addiction in “On the Other Side of Chaos,” followed by D. AllBee’s “The Cycle of Self Hatred: An Anthology.”
Next, we published “What I Learned From a Five Year Old at Whole Foods,” and “What I’ve Learned From Public Transportation,” followed by Mahik’s poem “Yesterday…”
After Ke’Aysha S. wowed us with her stunning photography in “Stranded Lens,” we released “Joining the Battle Against Spotted Lanternflies,” and the poem “cafe forever.”
Then, Fiona McHugh taught us about the health and wellness benefits of “Forest Bathing,” followed by our review of the Cartsdom Roulette.
McHugh later shared the article “‘Still, I Rise’ – Thoughts and Reflections on Women’s Empowerment.”
Next, we covered the town hall local legislators held about gun violence and legislation at the Delaware County Intermediate Unit (DCIU) in Morton, Pa.
Afterwards, Emily Barnes taught us how to travel around and enjoy New York on a budget in, “Everyone Needs to Get Away.”
Then, we reached out to experts with the US Geological Survey (USGS) about the recent reports of water in Kilauea, the youngest and most active volcano on the island of Hawai’i.
Wrapping up our theme for the month, McHugh shared the article, “The Universe Says ‘Yes’.”
Last but not least, we released “The Burgundy Zine #8: Reflections,” followed by our delayed installments of Strain of the Week, Tune-In Tuesdays, and a review of the book “Neurologic” by Dr. Eliezer J. Sternberg.
Going Forward
Going forward, we will begin releasing content for the Sept issue of The Burgundy Zine, which is focused on “Back to School.” You can learn more about “The Burgundy Zine #9” and how to contribute here.
We will be releasing articles about preparing for the school year, first day jitters, classroom experiences, homeschool, student debt, and more.
