It’s with an incomparable level of giddy and excitement that we announce the launch of The Burgundy Zine Merch Store campaign on Kickstarter – seriously, editor burgundy bug was clapping like a seal when the approval confirmation email graced her inbox.

The Burgundy Zine Kickstarter campaign will give us the ability to get our merch store off the ground with stickers, apparel, handmade cards, original artwork, and more. We also see the merch store as another platform for us to collaborate with artists and musicians to sell and promote their work.

Our Kickstarter campaign officially launches on May 21 and will end on June 21. However, you can be among the first to receive a notification when The Burgundy Zine Kickstarter launches: just click here and make sure you press “Notify me on launch!”

While we embark on this next part of our journey as a community, we’ll be keeping you in the loop with updates leading up to, during, and after we’ve met our funding goal.

So, let’s take this first step together with a formal introduction to The Burgundy Zine Merch Store campaign.

To breathe life into our merch store dreams, we’ll need the following:

  • Equipment & Supplies: A Cricut Maker, sticker paper, t-shirt transfer paper, printer ink, cardstock, etc…
  • Fees (annual): Shopify server, website server, domains, a P.O. box
  • Shipping: Postage and packaging

This is no small feat, but we know that with your help, it’s possible to raise $2,000 between May 21 to June 21 and have our merch store off the ground by the end of this year.

To show our appreciation for your generous contributions to our campaign, we’ve come up with a variety of art commission rewards that’ll be distributed digitally:

  • $1 contribution One customized e-thank you card
  • $5 contribution Five sets of digital stickers (pre-made) and an e-thank you card
  • $10 contribution Two pieces of digital artwork (pre-made), five sets of digital sticker sheets (pre-made), and an e-thank you card

Pre-made v.s. Commission: Pre-made digital artwork and stickers have been made to distribute to our campaign backers. Whereas commissions are custom pieces specifically created for our backers.

You will be contacted in reference to commission rewards to gather details about the piece you would like us to create for you.

If we do not hear back from you about the commission details, you’ll still receive something personally drawn for you, but what we create will be up to us since we didn’t receive any feedback/specific requests.

Coupons and store credits can be redeemed once the merch store has launched. We’re aiming to have the store up and running later this year, between fall and winter 2020. All other rewards will be distributed during the summer of 2020, closer to August.

All rewards for this campaign will be distributed digitally. Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, we are proactively doing our part to prevent the spread of the virus. Although we can guarantee our handmade products have been created in a contaminant-free space, we want to take every precaution we can. Thus, all rewards for this campaign will be distributed digitally.

However, once the piece has been sent to you, you are more than welcome to print and display it wherever you please!

Thank you for understanding. We send our love and support to our readers and contributors, as well as their loved ones and neighbors throughout this time period

The Burgundy Zine Merch Store presents opportunities for our platform to grow in more ways than one. In addition to collaborating with artists on different products, we intend on setting aside profits from the merch store to begin printing our digital magazine.

Most importantly, we’re warmed by the idea of finally being able to give you a tangible piece of ourselves. We can’t wait to see Burgundy Zine stickers on your journals, artwork on your walls, and t-shirts on your social media.

As always, thank you for being a central part of our community. We are forever humbled by the insanely wonderful creators we’ve met through The Burgundy Zine and the kindness of our readers.
